Week 2 - I'm Here
We had a great discussion about the message in this book. We talked about the quote "to the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the word." Some discussion topics were about acceptance, kindness and friendships. Check out our Padlet page that we have opened up to other classrooms around the world to post on!

Week 3 - Ish
After reading the book Ish two times, students made inferences about the message they think Peter H. Reynolds wants to send to people. Using our Kidblog, they blogged their inferences. They used text clues and their schema to infer the message in the book. Many students inferred the message was that nothing is perfect and it's okay to have imperfections in the things you do, like art. They also inferred the message was to never give up on something you love doing.

Week 4 - Sky Colour
This week we decided to paint a mural of the sky, using many colours except blue. The reason we did not use blue, was because we wanted the "think outside of the box". Our mural was going to send the message to other students of the school to think outside of the box, be creative, make mistakes and learn from them, and be unique! Unfortunately, our mural did not turn out as planned. This was an excellent lesson for us. We learned not everything works out, and sometimes it takes more than one attempt to reach your goals. We will try creating our mural again, but use a different technique to blend the colours and create our beautiful sky!
Week 5 - Going Places
Another book about thinking outside of the box! This book helped to inspire our creative minds. Using resources from the Peter H. Reynolds teaching toolkit, we created machines that will take us places. These machines could be anything, as long as they helped people to travel. One student created a submarine that was also able to hop out of the water and walk on land, and another student created a couch that you lay on to teleport you anywhere you want to be! Stay tuned for pictures of our creations.
